Phases of the Moon

For a few nights now we have been observing the moon. Unfortunately, the clouds have been getting in the way. But some of you have made some excellent predictions about what you think the moon would look like behind all those clouds.

Now it's time to learn a little bit about the phases the moon goes through. Watch the video and please comment on what you have learned or any interesting facts. Feel free to ask anything that you are wondering as well. Remember to read through your classmate's ideas and comment!

    I learned that the Moon takes about 29.5 days to complete its cycle.

      Aidan, I wonder if .5 mean 12 hours because a day is 24 hours and 12 hours is half and 5 is half of 10 but it could also mean 5 hours. What do you think?

      I think it just means that it is half between 29 and 30 days.

    I learned that the moon's phases take a whole month to finish. I also learned that the moon side that we can't see is the side the sun is not shining on.

    What I learned about the moon was that has 8 phases and it takes 29.5 days to go around the whole cycle.

    I learned that the hole cycle of the phases of the moon takes 25.5 days, and I want to learn how fast the moon spins because that helps explain why it takes the moon 25.5 days for the cycle of the phases of the moon to be done. And the phases of the moon are caused by the moons position and where the sun is. The suns light also effects it because the light of the sun makes the moon visible and the phases.

    When the Moon is waxing it really is not getting bigger we can just see more of the Moon shaded.

    I learned all the different names of the moon. I also learned that there are 8 different phases of the moon here is a name of a moon the new moon and a full moon and a waxing gibbous.

    I learned that there are 8 phases to the moon these are the phases. One warning crescent Two 1st Qtr Three waxing gibbous Four full moon Five waning gibbous Six lost Qtr Seven waning crescent Eight New moon.

    I learned that it takes 29.5 days to finish all eight phases of the moon. The phases are New Moon, Waxing Crescent Moon, First Quarter Moon, Waxing Gibbous Moon, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous Moon, Last Quarter Moon and Waning Crescent Moon.

    I learned that the sun reflects light on the part of the moon that we can see.

    I learned that there are 8 phases of the moon. They are called Waning Gibbous, Waning Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Last Quarter, Full Moon New Moon. The moon shines because the light from the sun reflects off he moon.

    I learned that there are different phases of the moon. There are eight phases that are called, New, Waxing Crescent , 1st Qtr, Waxing Gibbous, Full, Waning
    Gibbous, Last Qtr, Waning Crescent.

    I learned that the moon goes through 8 phases. The 8 phases are The new Moon,The Waxing Crescent,First Quarter,Waxing Gibbous,Full Moon,Waning Gibbous,Last Quarter and Waning Crescent. Waxing means getting bigger and waning means getting smaller.

    Today at 5:04 I once again didn't see the moon just as I predicted, that's the bad news but the good news is that tomorrow is supposed to be sunny so we might see the moon.

    Once again I didn't see the moon at 8:07. It was the same reasonas the last few nights. The moon is suppost to rise at 8:39 pm. Mabey next time I should wait a little longer.

    Tonight at 9:45pm I did not see a moon I think tonight it comes out late I think I will be asleep by then.
