We saw that on Tuesday morning we should be able to see the moon until snack time at school. If you get a chance to sneak a peek of the moon Tuesday morning, please post what you see!
Welcome to the 3 Mangan Moon Journal Blog! Here you will find resources to help you become moon observers. Over the next month we will be watching the night sky to see how the moon's appearance changes.

Tuesday Morning Moon Observation
Hi 3M! Today we again discussed that the moon has a rise and set time, just like the sun. Those times can be found in the Moon Resources tab.

Weekend Moon Sightings: February 26-28
This weekend I want you to post one time. Use the moon rise and set calendar we used in class today and that is mentioned in yesterday's post. Be smart about when you look for the moon by using the times listed. When you see it- let us know what shape it appears!

Thursday, February 25-Behind the Clouds
Welcome back, astronomers. Look out for the moon tonight behind all those clouds. Even look tomorrow morning to see if you can see it. Or is the moon only out at night?
Tonight, please record your normal observations but in addition I want you to check out the tab, "Moon Resources" that is next to the "Home" tab. Go to the first website listed, the TimeandDate.com There it will have a chart that shows the moon rise and moon set times. Can you figure out what that means? What times should we be able to see the moon tonight if it wasn't so cloudy?
Phases of the Moon
Now it's time to learn a little bit about the phases the moon goes through. Watch the video and please comment on what you have learned or any interesting facts. Feel free to ask anything that you are wondering as well. Remember to read through your classmate's ideas and comment!

Wednesday, February 24
Hi 3M! I missed you all today, but as you know, I had just not been feeling too well. I apologize for the late blog post. Thank you to all of you who did a fantastic job last night on your observations and comments. I am so impressed!
Tonight will probably be the same observations as last night. But let's give it a try again. If you don't see anything tonight will you think about this question:

If it was a full moon on Monday/Tuesday when we saw it first, what shape will the moon look like tonight behind those clouds? Do you think the shape the moon appears will be the same? Smaller? Bigger?

Tuesday, February 23- Home Observation
Hello Moonbloggers! Tonight observe the moon. Remember to write the time you observe the moon, choose the comment identity as "Name/URL" and only use your first name. Make sure you include details about your observations. Give positive feedback to your fellow observers and ask each other great "green light" questions.
Tuesday, February 23- Classwork
Hi 3M! Today I want you to pretend that this is the moon you saw last night. ( I saw it at 6:51pm.) What would a good moon blogger write? What kind of observations would you record? What kind of questions might you ask to your fellow bloggers?

Welcome to Moon Blogging!
Hi 3M Astronomers! This month we will be looking at the moon to observe its changes. Look out for a post tomorrow night to write your first observations. Remember what we talked about in the computer lab on how to blog and what to comment on.
Today I want you to practice blogging by answering the following question: What do you already know about the moon?
Remember that when you blog, standard writing expectations for published work apply. Remember your capitals, punctuation and best spelling.
When you comment, remember to only use your first name.
Happy blogging!
