Thursday-Orion
Hi Third Graders! Great job on your constellation and moon project today. They look great! I noticed that a favorite constellation of yours seems to be Orion. Watch the short video to learn a little bit more.
Tonight for your blog post, let me know what you see of the moon and if you were lucky enough to see Orion, the great hunter.

Wednesday Night
Unfortunately, telescope night was postponed until April. But can we still see the moon? What about some of the constellations we studied today at the planetarium. Record your observations of tonight's sky on the blog.

Tuesday Observations and Padlet
Hi Padlet Masters! What phase is the moon in tonight? Use the "Moon Resources" link on the blog to help you if you aren't sure, or weren't able to see it tonight.
Your job on Padlet is to tell me what phase the moon is in, and then find a picture of that phase to include on this board. Remember to "copy image address" to copy the pictures. Can't wait to see all your beautiful moon photographs!

Monday- Padlet
Hi 3M! I am afraid on this rainy day we will not be able to see the beautiful waxing moon like we did this weekend.
*Let's use PADLET tonight, like we did in class. Please watch the video below and then click http://padlet.com/lmangan/constellations to add to the Padlet board instead of our usual posting here on the blog. Remember that the same rules apply, capital letters and full sentences. Great writing rules apply whether we are using a pencil or a keyboard!*

Thursday Stargazing
Hi moon bloggers! Great job last night explaining the new moon. I love how you are using the Internet to find out information for yourselves. You are discovering new things about the moon on your own, that's how you'll remember it better.
Since last night was a new moon, we will probably see very little of the moon this evening. Look up tonight and instead tell me about the stars you see. Observe the sky conditions and let me know what you see. Can you find any stars that are a different color than white? Can you spot Orion's Belt? What do you notice about the stars?
UPDATE- 7:15pm: It's awfully cloudy out there... If you can't see anything tonight, don't bother posting. We'll look again this weekend :) If you can spot some stars, let us know what you saw!

New moon!
Today the moon is in the phase of a new moon. Scientists actually consider the new moon phase the first of the moon's phases.
Recall some of our conversations in class, return to the phase video on this blog, or do some of your own research tonight to post about what a new moon means.

Solar Eclipse- Tuesday HW
Tonight if you live in Australia or Southeast Asia you would be able to see a total solar eclipse.
A solar eclipse is when the moon comes between the sun and the Earth and casts a shadow on Earth. During a solar eclipse the sun is not visible from Earth.
It is completely blocked from view by the moon.
Watch the video above to learn more about solar eclipses. Then please post about what you learned! Remember to use complete sentences and feel free to ask questions and comment on other classmates' posts.
Tuesday- Daytime Moon
Hi moon bloggers! If you look at the moon chart today you'll see the moon will be out all day, even after we get home from school. Look out there and see if you can see any of that tiny appearance left.

Friday- Sunday Moon Observations
Good morning, 3M. Can you believe we woke up to all this snow? It looks like we won't be able to see the moon this morning like we have been able to.
One time this weekend I want you to find the moon and post. Perhaps don't choose this morning, as we won't be able to see it.
I will be in Massachusetts this weekend and I will post as well. Do you think I will see he same shape moon you will see? Make a prediction about what I will see in your post.

Thursday Morning Moon Sighting
To all my amazing morning moon bloggers, good job lately! It's not easy looking for the moon during the daytime, but you're doing it!
This morning at 5:20 am I saw the moon outside my window. It was bright and looked like a waning crescent. A little smaller than a quarter moon.
Moon observers, here's my new question. What side of the moon are we seeing less and less of every night/morning? Tell me about it in your post today.

Wednesday Morning, March 2nd
if you look at the moon rise and set chart it appears that the moon will be out this morning when we wake up, all the way through the morning while we are at school. Today blog before school. Or if you see the moon while we are at school, jot down a note and blog when you get home.
The moon has been waning, which means it's appearance is smaller. We've seen it go from a full moon to a gibbous, and to a quarter moon. What should it look like today?
